i want my passport, actually.
i have the wanderlust. badly. i want to drive off and go to Canada if i feel like it (probably picking up friends along the way. :D ), or call my uncle and ask him if i can use his family discount to fly standby to [insert country here]. i live in the middle of the united states, you see. in ohio. which, while there are a great many interesting things to be done, none of those things are interesting to me. i don't like clubs, i don't like football, i'm not into sports, and i don't care for haunted houses. i want to go on a library tour of the world. libraries and museums. because i'm just that nerdly. (^.-) i mean, i see all these pretty photos of fancy-ass libraries in europe and pretty museums all over the world and think "omg, wanna gooooooooooooooooooooooo!" and then i suddenly remember that i haven't a passport. so i can't even leave the country (legally). well. i can leave. i just can't come back. and really, it's a pain to pack, and all my stuff is here. besides, i'm sure freight to ship all my jewelry supplies alone would be hideous. the plan is :: get passport save dollars for a year or so go visit aunt rae in sweden and see england and possibly paris if there's time/money left, sketching all the way go home and sleep and save more dollars for a while (undetermined amount of time) go visit friends in Canadialand for a while come home and sleep and save more dollars go visit the rest of the world* *this can happen in any order, so long as dollars happen before travel. because i think that sounds like a fun life-plan (or maybe a fun-life plan? :P), don't you? :D ciao! ~yobo p.s., my birthday is halloween, i'll be 25. should i have a sale for it? or is that like those kids in highschool who would walk around with dollar bills safety pinned to their shirts on their birthdays, so that others would know, and give them money?

i'm having trouble deciding on a name for the newest series of jewelry pieces i have, ready to load into the shop. they're carved ivory lucite, with the carving picked out in gold. it's all accented with blue glass and lucite beads, and goldtone findings. that sounds mostly oceanic to me, so i'm leaning towards Atlantis-themed. my brother mentioned that the carving on some beads looks downright peruvian, though, and i'm inclined to agree. see? they look kind of central american, a bit. but the blue, of course, makes the look oceanic instead of carved-out-of-rock-ish. it's more like carved-out-of-shell-ish, now.
so i guess this post is just to say "i started out with a different idea, again.". sometimes my blog posts are pointless. i'm assuming you don't mind. (^.-) so look for a new series to show up in the next few days on ImpatiensDesigns.com! i can almost NEVER get everything i need, all from 1 single person. for the sellers, i suppose that's just grand, i mean, i'd love for someone to buy a few supplies from me, and a few from my competitors, but i'm nice like that. when i'm buying supplies (for myself)? i like to get them all from 1 place. and to be perfectly honest, i prefer ArtfulMarket. she's a wonderful woman, and fantastic to work with. but this time around, she doesn't have everything i need. i'm still in the pricing phase, but what i need is a lot of very basic (to a costume jewelry maker) supplies. i need, in no particular order :: antiqued goldtone eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings antiqued silvertone eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings bright silvertone eye and headpins (2") bright goldtone eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings gunmetal silver eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings and i want at LEAST 200 of each kind of eye and head pin (as in, 200 eye pins and 200 headpins, not 100 of each to make 200 total), and 500 of each kind of jumpring. i tend to buy supplies like these 1x a year, you see, and the only reason copper isn't in there is because i made a HUGE order from Artful a few months ago when i was flush with money and no bills. and having a love affair with copper. ;P i have since made a good dent in those copper findings, but i'm in no danger of running out as of right now. now, you'll notice that chain is not on that list. i tend to buy my chains from monsterslayer, because you cannot beat those prices. also, clasps are mysteriously absent. this is because i need to go through the clasps i have and decide which kinds i need, and how many of each. now, again, i'm still in the pricing phase, and i haven't decided if i'm going to email Artful and just ask her if she can even get what i'm looking for in the quantities i want them in. if she can, great! if not, no harm no foul, it's not like i've ever heard the word "no" before. also, i didn't intend this to be a rant about supplies or suppliers or anything like that, i'm posting all this mostly just to say that i really wish i could find what i need all in one place. and i'm sure you've all felt that frustration. ^^; ciao ~yobo |
