This art right here? pretty freeking awesome.
i love the colors, and the movement, plus the poses of the figures are dynamic and imply that the figures are living, breathing beings, rather than static images. that's pretty cool. britsketch on etsy has a ton of fantastic prints in her shop, but these caught my eye especially.
this one's my favourite.
so i've decided that i need to stop neglecting my blog so badly.
to that end, i'm going to start posting random images that i've taken while working, or while taking photos of the pieces.
why? well, because i take a lot of random shots, and sometimes i get something really cool looking.
like these ::
just some random shots i took during a marathon photo session, but i liked them.
hopefully this'll help me keep this updated more, but since this is me, i wouldn't be too optimistic. (^.-);
heh. i think i like saying that more than "happy holidays" or "merry christmas" or "happy christmas". it's cute. (^.-)
as such, i'm going to post cute things for you to look at. they may or may not be generally holiday themed. so, on to the cute! :D
these are from Jeannie Knits. :D
these are from not.rachel on flickr.
these are from stacey at puppetpie.com.
these are from Iva at IvaArt.
these are from my favourite painter, Tina Carroll.
these are from Needlings.
these are from the fantastic Ren Adams.
awesomeness in thread form from Pterylae(pronounced ter-eh-lay) Designs.
from Hip and Clavicle.
from The Ink Society.
from I Love Doodle.
full of awesome and handmade and more awesome.
all pictures are links to either shops or items.
guaranteed to get at least an "oh neat!", but more likely to get "omg, how cute! :D" from your giftee.
well sure, i'd love one!
aren't they cute?
the one on the right has Helvetica on it, and on the left, it's fish scales.
they're actually made with a 3d printer, can you believe that? i love 3d printers so much.
they. are. so. cool.
click the pictures to see what's up, yeah? they're linkies! :D
i want my passport, actually.
i have the wanderlust. badly.
i want to drive off and go to Canada if i feel like it (probably picking up friends along the way. :D ), or call my uncle and ask him if i can use his family discount to fly standby to [insert country here].
i live in the middle of the united states, you see. in ohio.
which, while there are a great many interesting things to be done, none of those things are interesting to me. i don't like clubs, i don't like football, i'm not into sports, and i don't care for haunted houses.
i want to go on a library tour of the world. libraries and museums. because i'm just that nerdly. (^.-)
i mean, i see all these pretty photos of fancy-ass libraries in europe and pretty museums all over the world and think "omg, wanna gooooooooooooooooooooooo!" and then i suddenly remember that i haven't a passport. so i can't even leave the country (legally). well. i can leave. i just can't come back. and really, it's a pain to pack, and all my stuff is here. besides, i'm sure freight to ship all my jewelry supplies alone would be hideous.
the plan is ::
save dollars for a year or so
go visit aunt rae in sweden and see england and possibly paris if there's time/money left, sketching all the way
go home and sleep and save more dollars for a while (undetermined amount of time)
go visit friends in Canadialand for a while
come home and sleep and save more dollars
go visit the rest of the world*
*this can happen in any order, so long as dollars happen before travel.
because i think that sounds like a fun life-plan (or maybe a fun-life plan? :P), don't you? :D
p.s., my birthday is halloween, i'll be 25. should i have a sale for it?
or is that like those kids in highschool who would walk around with dollar bills safety pinned to their shirts on their birthdays, so that others would know, and give them money?
i'm having trouble deciding on a name for the newest series of jewelry pieces i have, ready to load into the shop.
they're carved ivory lucite, with the carving picked out in gold. it's all accented with blue glass and lucite beads, and goldtone findings.
that sounds mostly oceanic to me, so i'm leaning towards Atlantis-themed.
my brother mentioned that the carving on some beads looks downright peruvian, though, and i'm inclined to agree. see?
they look kind of central american, a bit. but the blue, of course, makes the look oceanic instead of carved-out-of-rock-ish. it's more like carved-out-of-shell-ish, now.
so i guess this post is just to say "i started out with a different idea, again.". sometimes my blog posts are pointless. i'm assuming you don't mind. (^.-)
so look for a new series to show up in the next few days on ImpatiensDesigns.com!
i can almost NEVER get everything i need, all from 1 single person.
for the sellers, i suppose that's just grand, i mean, i'd love for someone to buy a few supplies from me, and a few from my competitors, but i'm nice like that.
when i'm buying supplies (for myself)? i like to get them all from 1 place.
and to be perfectly honest, i prefer ArtfulMarket.
she's a wonderful woman, and fantastic to work with.
but this time around, she doesn't have everything i need.
i'm still in the pricing phase, but what i need is a lot of very basic (to a costume jewelry maker) supplies.
i need, in no particular order ::
antiqued goldtone eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings
antiqued silvertone eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings
bright silvertone eye and headpins (2")
bright goldtone eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings
gunmetal silver eye and headpins (2"), 6mm and 4mm ID jumprings
and i want at LEAST 200 of each kind of eye and head pin (as in, 200 eye pins and 200 headpins, not 100 of each to make 200 total), and 500 of each kind of jumpring.
i tend to buy supplies like these 1x a year, you see, and the only reason copper isn't in there is because i made a HUGE order from Artful a few months ago when i was flush with money and no bills. and having a love affair with copper. ;P
i have since made a good dent in those copper findings, but i'm in no danger of running out as of right now.
now, you'll notice that chain is not on that list.
i tend to buy my chains from monsterslayer, because you cannot beat those prices. also, clasps are mysteriously absent. this is because i need to go through the clasps i have and decide which kinds i need, and how many of each.
now, again, i'm still in the pricing phase, and i haven't decided if i'm going to email Artful and just ask her if she can even get what i'm looking for in the quantities i want them in. if she can, great! if not, no harm no foul, it's not like i've ever heard the word "no" before.
also, i didn't intend this to be a rant about supplies or suppliers or anything like that, i'm posting all this mostly just to say that i really wish i could find what i need all in one place.
and i'm sure you've all felt that frustration. ^^;
well, i'm mid-organized spree, as i managed to save enough to buy my Expedit when it was on sale. :D
they didn't have any of the cross-brace shelves, but the way i've arranged it, i have 4 extra fullsize shelves, so i think i can alter them enough to make 2 sets of the shelves i want.
but! i've got the photo studio up and i'm in love with it. would you like to see some pictures i've taken with it?
i really do love it. if i said that it's Practically Perfect in Every Way, would it make you feel sick? because it would me. (^.-) if you click on any of those images, it'll take you to my flickr. and i linked it because those are all destache items. some of the items are spoken for, but a lot are not. if you'd like some of my crafty cast offs, just leave a comment on the image. i'll see it pretty PDQ.
in other news, my desk is a mess, because i'm mid-organize. i'm going through my supplies, and organizing them as i put them away. this seems to mean that i need to make a HUGE mess before it gets cleaned up. (anyone suprized that yobo makes a mess trying to clean up, stand on your head!) on the other hand, i AM getting things all put together and in the right places. so it's getting there. slowly but surely, it's getting there.
also, i've inherited a HUGE cork board from ma mère, and while it has no frame along the bottom, i'm thinking i'll invent a little shelf, maybe 3" deep, so that i can have my favourite pumpkin figurines on there. then i'll hang it over my desk, so i can have 2 cork boards. 1 small one to keep works in progress hanging on, and the larger one for everything else. i think that sounds like a good idea. plus, i have a string of 4 days off coming next week, so i think i'll be getting everything prepped on my few off days until then, then get everything hung and fixed up during those 4 days. :D
i'm going to have to find out if my male parental unit owns a planer or some sand paper that's not 30 years old, and squish a couple of the shelves a little, as they won't fit perfectly as-is, and then i get to make a template and trace it out onto the melamine, and then score the melamine on both sides, so that i don't shatter it when i cut into it.
if i think of it, i'll take photos of the process and put a how-to up here.
in the meantime, i'll be coming home exhausted from work (it's busy season for flooring, everyone wants to finish before thanksgiving/xmas/holidays), and i'll be organizing on my days off. so we'll see if i pop up anywhere but the twitters.
see ya soonsies maybe!
